About

ShareVilles

building  Sustainable, Harmonious, Regenerative (Share) Communities.

For thousands of years, most rural communities around the world had their modest needs fulfilled in their natural ecosystems. For many of them today, things have changed drastically – the forests are gone, they have modest plots of land, almost no resources, and are manipulated by agro-industries to adopt unsustainable, high-input agricultural practices, trapping them in endless cycles of poverty.

Grants or hand-outs often create dependency, jealousy, and structures of manipulation in rural communities - often creating bigger obstacles to progress and harmony.

Just like a mine, rich in gems of great value, every individual can develop capacities to transform herself and society, if she has access to quality, and appropriate education.

Unfortunately, for millions around the world this is still a distant dream. Many students we serve in rural Zambia attend government schools, which are typically overcrowded, with 70 to 100 students per class! A classroom is used by three batches of students – allowing them just three hours study a day, often walking up to 7km each way to attend school. Text books and teaching materials almost do not exist.

Shareville Zambia is a family initiative, exploring ways for individuals from anywhere to commit an hour or two a week for online tutoring or teacher-support, and if possible, to sponsor one or more students at USD 8/ month. You will receive details and monthly updates of students you sponsor, and the group you tutor.

We provide foundational education to preschoolers, tutorials to students of all ages, community education on health, literacy, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and practical training to achieve financial self-sufficiency.

By January 2026, we plan to launch a 3-year certificate program in Trades & Vocations for junior youth, aged 11 to 16. In about 3 years, we hope to offer Diploma courses in various trades and vocations to students from these communities, as 95% of the students we serve currently can’t even dream of access to higher education.

To raise up dedicated facilitators, we identify persons of capacity in the local communities and offer them comprehensive training 3 times a year, totaling 6 weeks, with regular accompaniment in the field.

We are currently working with groups of students in more than six villages, where we have already purchased land for the centers, and have raised very basic structures on 4 of these. This has been a family initiative until this point.

At this stage of development, we consciously decided not to apply for grants or donor funding; we are eager to promote the human connection instead - between the learners and teachers! This has potential to transform the lives of everyone in the process, and a level of transparency that is often absent in many social projects.
